Conversion "Parent-Child-Relations" from "Special Group" to "Parent-Child-Relations"
In addition to adoption, now the OFB offers also a linking of other relations from child to parent.
The relations are represented by the tags:
- PEDI xxx, in case of relation to both parents
- _FREL xxx, in case of relation to father
- _MREL xxx, in case of relation to mother
According to my knowledge following programs are affected:
- Ages!: uses all 3 as sub-tag of FAMC
- Gen_Plus, PAF, PHP GedView, TNG, WebTrees/KiwiTrees: uses PEDI as sub-tag of FAMC
- FTM: uses PEDI as sub-tag of FAMC and _FREL/_MREL as sub-tag of CHIL
- Brothers Keeper, Legacy: uses _FREL/_MREL as sub-tag of CHIL
How to change the settings
The OFB changes the
- Profile file (*.ogp) automatically, if this relation was defined by "Special Group". For further hints see the user guide for "Profile Management, chapter 2.2.1 tab "Adoption + Parent-Child Relations".
- For Ages! special: At Gedcom profile check resp. set manually:
- At tab "General" -> "Gedcom Interpret 2" -> mark "Adoption + Parent-Child Relations".
- At tab "Gedcom Interpret 2" -> tab "Adoption + Parent-Child Relations" mark "Attribute 1".
- Naming file (*.ond) partly automatically, if above 3 tag names are listed at tab "Definition tags Other code values" at the screen for naming files. Die Attribute texts xxx of the 3 tags are partly terms in mixed cases, mostly english. These can be modified to normal text for output by the naming file - Xmp: "FOSTER" in "Foster child of". These entries of "old text" and "new text" have to be done manually at data group "Relations". For further hints see the OFB user guide, chapter 2.5.1 tab "Naming of the parameter", data group "Relations".
If you don't know the texts xxx, inserted by your program, they can be determined by using the "Analysis program":
- Select the Standard setting - (symbol with white paper, bottom left)
- Mark the option "List Text xxx for following ..."
- Enter at the text field "PEDI;_FREL;_MREL" (without ")
- Select the ged-file and start the analysis
At the output you'll find the text, if used at all, in the lines
INDI.FAMC @[email protected] birth
INDI.FAMC @Xnn@._FREL BIRTH
INDI.FAMC @Xnn@._FREL STEP
INDI.FAMC @Xnn@._MREL UNCERTAIN
...
as extract of example texts.
Enter the missing texts at the respective group.
